Choose your farvorite hobby:
Nature's diversity of flora and fauna fascinates me extremely. Being in the interiors has a healing effect on me and leaves me going home with only refreshing memories; therefore I am passionate to work towards developing & preserving our natural environment.
What are your ambitions in life?
My ambitions in life are firstly to achieve my PHD degree in Eco- Tourism; this will give me the opportunity to contribute to the development and preservation of nature in a professional way. Further more I also aim to become one of the finest ballerinas and of course I dream to take part in the Miss Universe pageant 2009 too. Last but not least, after all this, I plan to do the Pilot course, since I am also very interested in aerodynamics and I will indeed challenge myself to realize this dream as well as all the others.
What is your message to the youth?
We, younger people of Suriname should not think that, we are a small country; hence, we should organize our self, to show how creative we are, to the world. During this process we should keep in mind that there is no short cut to success! Remember that! You have to work hard; you have to practice, practice, and practice and, watch your attitude at the same time. Remember, you can only achieve, if you dare to dream, and always smile, for it costs nothing but, leaves refreshing memories to those you look at.
What is beauty?
Everybody perceives beauty in a different way- but this is a combination of inner and outer beauty. The most important thing is to feel beautiful for yourself. Even if nobody else can identify why, you should feel good about yourself, it shines through, how comfortable you are with yourself and how gracious you can be to others. Outer beauty changes with ageing, but inner beauty lasts forever!
Why do you deserve the Miss Suriname titel?
Twelve contestants were officially chosen to take part in the Miss Suriname Beauty Pageant, because they all comply with the criteria set for the pageant. This means that all 12 contestants have the right to win the Miss Suriname 2008 title. Unfortunately only one of us can become the proud owner of that title and that is also one of the reasons why the contest is being held.
How should the titel holder of miss suriname, represent Suriname?
When you are crowned as Miss Suriname, you should be willing to place yourself in the service of the community, set a good example for young people and represent Suriname in a decent way internationally.
How do you plan to represent Suriname abroad and what is the most important aspect you canb tell about Suriname?
I will invite everybody to visit Suriname, tell them about the uniqueness of our tropical flora and fauna, our wooden city, and the biggest wooden cathedral of the Caribbean which is situated only in our country. Furthermore I will mention that all tourists may feel save and secure in Suriname, since there are no natural disasters, there is no war; different people with different cultures living in harmony together e.g. the Synagogue and the Mosque which are built right next to each other. The Suriname cuisine has an unbelievable wide variety to make a choice of; each population group has their own cultural dishes. Suriname is also one of the few countries where the giant sea turtles from all over the world come to hatch. To me, there are not enough words to explain the greatness of Suriname. So everyone, book your trip now and experience the breathtaking wonders of our nature for yourself, yes indeed, all this in our marvellous tropical Suriname!
What do you like the most about your mentality?
When I think of my mentality, I am proud to say that I see a reflection of both my parents, the strength and humour of my father, and the graciousness and kindness of my mother.
What can you tell the world about yourself?
On May 8, 1984, I was blessed as the second daughter to my parents and, my proud father named me, Mireille Symone Nederbiel. Today, I pride in my 24 years of experience, through life and, look strongly towards the challenges & adventures life has for me. Presently, I am a third year student at the Suriname College of Management studies (SIMS), undergoing the BSC course for Eco-Tourism. However, my goals are to achieve my PHD – Amen! Furthermore I am employed as a Sales & Marketing Assistant at Precamp South America N.V.
I love working with people and, am passionate to work towards developing & preserving our natural environment. What describes me best is, a woman with positive energy, ambitious, ready to except challenges and work for solutions, having a good sense of humour and the zeal to strive in my ambitions and be an example for others. Furthermore, I love ballet and it is indeed, my dream to be one of the finest ballerinas. I love reading, enjoy good music, being creative with interiors, spending relaxing moments with family & friends and above all, simply love modelling. I strongly believe that, a positive attitude, confidence to achieving for solutions and a strong will power, can indeed bring a change to this world and make every dream come true!
How social are you as a person?
I may tell the world that I feel very privileged, because I was raised in a very loving and social conscience family and I was always surrounded by friends and relatives who had fairly the same attitude. I therefore learned to love and respect life from a very young age on and enjoy treating everybody and everything in a gentle and descent way.
What is your motto in life?
Challenge your dreams, the sky is the limit!!
How do you find the Miss Suriname 2008 contest?
Miss Suriname 2008 contributes greatly to the personal development of each and every contestant. Stimulating discipline, effective communicative skills and bringing out the gracious woman who lives in all of us, are just a few areas to mention. Miss Suriname 2008 also tries to help the community as much as possible, which I really appreciate. We already did social projects on a library for children and at a home for the elderly. Words are not enough for the feeling that we get out of the gratitude that shines trough these people there eyes, for us, a refreshing memory that lasts forever. I want to thank the Miss Suriname Organisation, APRA, and every one else who made their effort to create this once in a lifetime opportunity for us young Surinamese women.
